How is the analytical writing portion of the GRE factored into the overall score?
Randy H. asked:
I just took the GRE and am wondering how scores are calculated. For admissions purposes, do grad schools just look at the combined verbal and quantitative or is it a combination of the writing, verbal and quantitative? The thing throwing me off is that the writing is scored on a scale of 0 to 6, while the verbal and quantitative ranges from 200 to 800. Most grad schools list a minimum score of 1000, but if that’s the case, what happens to the writing score? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance to all who take the time to answer.
