Would you like to see authors and writers include the religion of the main characters of stories?

I’ve noticed that people like Harry Potter and the girl from Casper and Kelly Bundy and other stories include characters, but we don’t know what religion they are? Would you have liked it if the writers of these stories had included such information or are do you think religion is not important to know about in a story?
